I was born in Ciwangun, a village in Cibaliung, Pandeglang, Banten, 6 May 1982. My educational background is Sekolah Dasar Negeri Babakan Kembang (1994), Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Cibaliung (1997), Madrasah Aliyah Mathla’ul Anwar Menes (2000), The State Institue for Islamic Studies [IAIN] Banten (2005), Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) Hidayatul Mubin Menes (1997-2000) and As-Salam Tangerang (2001). I had ever worked as a journalist and written novels, short stories, poetries, and screenplays. Now I am a student at Leiden University, the Netherlands, studying for Master of Arts in Islamic Studies.
Some of my (and my friends’) works are Lewat Tengah Malam (At the End of a Night) an adaptation of a film; Mana Bidadari Untukku (Where Is My Angle?) a novel; Kacamata Sidik (Sidik’s Glass), Panggil Aku Bunga (Call Me Flower) , Padi Memerah (The Reddened Paddy), Masih Ada Cinta di Senja Itu (There Was Still Love at That Afternoon), all anthologies of short stories; Ode Kampung (a Village Ode) an anthology of poems; The Real Story of Jomblo an anthology of essays; Senja di Stasiun Kereta (One Afternoon at the Rail Station) an unpublished novel, and Pangeran Cinta ( A Love Prince) also an unpublished novel.
Besides writing essays, novels, and short stories, I have also written some screenplays such as An Annoying Husband, To Help Grandmother, A False Letter, An Early Wedding, A Woman at Midnight, A Finance Disturber, A Dream Interpretation, My Teacher Always Attends The Meeting, A Mardud Hajj, After Lebaran—all these screenplays were broadcast by RCTI, an Indonesian television station. In addition, I wrote a screenplay of Rin!, an independent short film and a screenplay of Multatuli’s Step: I Will Be Read!, a docu-drama.
